Fire Giant of North-Western Of Costa Rica

The Arenal volcano measures at least 1,633 meters high. It is conically shaped with a crater 140 meters in diameter, rightfully world famous, this volcano holds a tourist appeal as much as scientific, Arenal's eruption from 1968 to 2010 is the tenth longest duration volcanic eruption on Earth since 1750. Since 2010, Arenal has been dormant.

Arenal Volcano Thermal Springs

The Arenal Volcano area is an important watershed for the Arenal Lake Reservoir. The reservoir's water is used for hydroelectric power. It is also connected to the national system of drinking water. Adding to the wanderlust are the hot springs offered in different budgets all surrounded by a forest known for the health benefits the rich sulfur waters offer.

Hiking the Volcano Skirts

The Park offers four routes open to the public; Heliconias Trail: Covered with vegetation, it measures 610 meters, is flat and narrow, and from there you can see the crater. Coladas Trail: It is a flat 1.7 km route from where you can see the volcanic cone, Lake Arenal and the Tilarán mountain range. El Ceibo Trail: It is relatively flat and is 2.3 km long. Here you can see the large Ceiba pentandra tree. Viewpoint to the volcanic cone: It is 1.5 km from the entrance control house and from there you can see the Arenal volcano. You can access special hikes and scientific interest walks closer to the craters with specialized groups. 

La Fortuna Waterfall

The Fortuna River Waterfall is a natural area managed sustainably by Integral Development Association of La Fortuna (ADIFORT), a non-profit organization founded since August 31, 1969. is located in a biological reserve with an area of 210 acres of transition premontane tropical wet forest, part of the Arenal Volcano National Park and is located at 520 meters over the sea level, where there are sources of our mountains and the waters of the Fortuna River. To observe this splendid 70 meters high waterfall, visitors must pass a path of approximately 530 steps, which offers greater security to its passage and comfortable areas for rest and hydration through a forest with native trees of the area. Once in front of the waterfall, you will find space for a refreshing swim in the clear waters of the Fortuna River.

Volcan Arenal Ecological Park

Located on the slopes of the Arenal Volcano, surrounded by the San Carlos rainforest, volcanic lava, and a magical natural lagoon.
